Ernest Man Arrested for Couch Arson

A 37-year-old man from McIntyre, Steven R. Marsh, has been arrested by state police in Indiana County after allegedly setting a couch on fire inside a residence in Ernest. The incident occurred early Friday morning around 3 a.m., following a 911 hang-up call from the home on Third Street.

The victim reported that Marsh kicked in the basement door and ignited the couch while she was present. After putting out the fire, he fled the scene and reportedly sent threatening messages to her. Police located Marsh hours later, and he has since been taken to the Indiana County Jail, where he is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
